Before you can record waste shipments certain information must be pre-configured by a user with access to the configuration options.
The people who can enter readings are those with access right “DATA: Configure Parameter and Measurements” selected for their user profile in the ADMIN Administration Module. |
This information is:
Carriers – companies or organisations that will transport the waste.
Consignees – companies or organisations that will receive the waste for transfer, disposal or recovery.
Brokers (if applicable) – companies that organise waste disposal or recovery
undertaken by others, that is act as middle men.
Waste Type Categories – categories under which you wish to group the waste. These could be broad categories such as hazardous or non-hazardous or more specific ones such as packaging, solvents, electrical waste, construction and demolition waste, food waste, medical waste, etc.
Waste Types – individual waste types associated with a statutory waste code (for example the EU 6 digit waste code).
Carriers, Consignees and Brokers must have valid (up to date) authorisations such as a environmental (waste) licence, permit, registration or a recognised exemption. These are typically specific to the type(s) of waste which can be handled.
Before you start configuration, compile a list of all your waste streams with the type of waste, its waste code, who transports it, and where it goes for disposal or recovery. Make sure that you have copies of your waste supplier's current authorisations. Decide how you want to group the waste into categories. |
